Sector Structure

The national government is responsible for designing the policy of the sector, through the Ministry of Mines and Energy.
From the entry into force of Decree 1260 of 2013, the Energy Regulatory Commission and Gas (CREG), is responsible for the issue concerning the activities of liquid fuels derived oil industry economic regulation.
It consists of different actors in the chain of liquid fuels.
They make it possible to carry liquid fuels to different end users:
  • Refiner
  • Biofuel producer
  • Importer
  • storer
  • Conveyor
  • Wholesale distributor
  • retailer
  • great consumer
Supervision and control
He is head of the Superintendency of Industry and Commerce (SIC), to monitor the behavior of agents, protecting the interests of consumers and safeguard competition.
